Weekly Book Review:

WHEN RELIGION IS AN ADDICTION
"Religion doesn’t have to be this way; it can be healing. But what we see in the dominant religious/political right-wing fundamentalism that’s driving the debate on most conservative issues (political, social, economic, international) is anything but healthy. It’s what addiction specialists call a process addiction, like sex or romance addiction, or workaholism. In an addictive society, such addictions are encouraged.
Like substance addictions, it takes over, dominates life, pushes other issues to the background, tells them how and what to feel to prevent them from facing their real feelings about themselves and life, creates a mythology about the world, protects its “stash,” and supports their denial that they have a problem. Addiction specialist Anne Wilson Schaef would say, like all addictions, religious addiction is progressive and fatal.
If you’re outside the addiction, you’ve probably wondered about what’s going on, what’s the dynamic that’s driving the right-wing religious agenda that looks so hateful and destructive. Why is it so hard to crack? Why won’t evidence or logic work?"

Hagee and his loving GOD YAHWEH

Just another fun example of why the BIBLE is a book full of nonsense, that the GOD of the bible Yahweh, the volcano god of a primitive culture is not a loving GOD at all. Why Christians read and use the Old Testament is beyond me.
Oh symbolic you say? The story isnt real you say? God killing people who wanted tasty meat is just a parable. Hm. If thats a parable to get a point accross to a primitive bronze age people, maybe the concept of GOD is a way to bring control and culture to a rag tag bunch of wandering and illiterate sheep herders.
The Bible must be literal or the WHOLE thing is thrown into doubt. Magic or Reason. There is no healthy middle ground there. Going to Europe? You take the Winged Unicorn, I will take an airplane. RACE YOU THERE!

ORLANDO (AP) - Could it be divine intervention that's kept Florida safe from hurricanes since Gov. Charlie Crist took office?
"Do you know the last time it was we had a hurricane in
Florida? It's been awhile. In 2007, I took my first trade mission. Do you know where I went?" said Crist, a Methodist, referring to a trip to
Israel.
He then told of going to the Western Wall and inserting a note
with a prayer. He said it read, "Dear God, please protect our Florida from storms and other difficulties. Charlie." "Time goes on - May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December - no hurricanes," Crist said. "Thank God." Last year, Sen. Nan Rich was traveling to Israel and Crist asked her to put a note in the Western Wall, a holy site in Judaism and aplace where written prayers are traditionally placed. "It was the same note, by the way, the same prayer," Crist said.
This year a friend was going to Israel and he gave him a prayer to put in the Western Wall. "You can do it on the Internet now, but I'd rather have it physically in there," Crist joked. The note was placed in the wall in May. "May, June, July, August - we're getting closer," Crist said. "Knock on wood. I would ask you all to say a prayer." Afterward, he said he's not taking credit for the lack of storms in this hurricane-prone state. "I give that to God," Crist said. "But it's nice."

This is really a classic movie and a major influence on my loss of respect for all religion.

When Marjoe was three, his father, a third generation minister, noticed his son's talent for mimicry and overall fearlessness of strangers and public
settings. His parents claimed Marjoe had received a vision from God during a bath and began training him to deliver sermons, complete with dramatic gestures and emphatic lunges.
By the time Marjoe was four, his parents arranged for him to perform a marriage ceremony for a film crew from Paramount studios, referring to him as "the youngest ordained minister in history." Like much in Marjoe's early life it is hard to say for sure who exactly ordained him, if his f
ather ordained him, or if he was even ordained at all.

In the late 1960s , Marjoe (mid twenties) suffered a crisis of conscience — in particular about the threats of damnation he felt compelled to weave into his sermons — and resolved to make one final tour, this time on film. Under the pretense of making a documentary detailing a viable ministry, Marjoe assembled a documentary film crew to follow him around revival meetings in California, Texas, and Michigan during 1971.
Unbeknownst to everyone else involved — including, at one point, his father — Marjoe gave "backstage" interviews to the filmmakers in between sermons and revivals, explaining intimate details of how he and other ministers operated. After sermons, the filmmakers were invited back to Marjoe's hotel room to tape him counting the money he collected during the day. The resulting film, Marjoe, won the 1972 Academy Award for best documentary. Source: Wikipedia

The 1980s saw a rise in evangelical and fundamentalist Christian political activism, and an attendant concern over changing mores. More people were leaving children at Daycare Centers. More people were talking about fa
mily violence. And long-standing institutions, such as reform schools, faced scandals over past sexual abuse. These social currents all had their influence on the mainstreaming of a previously fringe belief in vast, well-connected, intergenerational Satanic Cults whose ultimate aims were global control (indeed, some would-be authorities claimed the cult was already running several countries), but whose workaday practices largely consisted of child rape, cannibalism, and cheesy rituals. Many of the stories repeat slander that has, throughout history, been directed at outsider groups; the early Christians, heretical groups within Christianity, Jews, and supposed witches have all, at one time or another, been accused falsely of the very same things.

Politically-motivated therapists and police officers led the demand for prosecution whenever such claims were made. In the McMartin Preschool Trial and similar cases, the therapists actually created the abuse narrative which the children repeated in court. Talk Shows, of course, jumped on the bandwagon, and gave voice to supposed survivors, leaving the checking of facts to viewers.

As in witch-hunts of the past, trials took place with little regard for evidence or even logic. A few of the general problems with the picture de
veloped by believers and promulgators of the Panic, however, should be noted here:

-One study revealed that the majority of ritual abuse cases were reported by less than 2% of therapists, while more than 70% of therapists never had such a case. Very few therapists, then, discovered the patients who supposedly had been abused, often using now-discredited methods and assumptions. Hypnosis, for example, makes a person more

-No cases of ritual sexual abuse by Satanists exist before the panic. Compare this with the very real problem of sexual, physical, and psychological abuse in places like reform schools. Reports, usually suppressed, exist throughout the institutions' histories. Police heard accounts, but either refused to believe victims or felt the stories were exaggerated. Survivors corroborate each others' stories. Far from repressing their memories, the victims found their abuse impossible to forget. None of this is true of the Satanic Panic cases, despite the claim that these cults were in operation for generations.

-The murders reportedly committed by the cults would leave hundreds of thousands of corpses, yet we do not have anything like the number of missing persons to account for these sacrifices.

-Several supposed survivors talk of past pregnancies or torture that l
eft scars; the corroborative physical evidence never exists.

-Ken Lanning's investigation (actually, a review of existing investigations) for the FBI found no evidence that such large-scale Satanic cults exist. prone to fantasy, not less.

Of course, horrible cases of abuse do occur. Perhaps a belief in evil cults makes this easier to accept. We can blame it all on the obvious monsters, rather than accept the everyday and unpredictable nature of evil. From: http://www.geocities.com/utherworld/seasons/satanicpanic.html

God doesn't have time for starving children, but he most definitely has time for SPORTS BABY! Woooo!
This video concept was amusing, but after making it I am furious. What insane narcissism to think that GOD himself who doesn't stop any evil in the world made you win a football game. SICK.

If you speak English.. you are doing SATAN'S will.
I often have people who are not religious themselves ask me why I am so opposed to it. Why I feel the need to fight against it. It just makes people feel better, what wrong with that? If there were no religion, people would do evil things.

What a load of crap. I get this from people who in all honesty have not taken time to think objectively about reality. I understand our English heritage heavily influences our assumption that religion is not to be questioned, at least publicly. That a man's religion is his own personal choice and that we have no right to belittle it. I say religion is no better than a pedophile.

Shocked?Still think religion does good, feeds hungry people, teaches people to love. Well... a pedophile may buy a child candy, take care of them when they are sick, or bring the on a picnic. Does that make the molestation in less traumatic? Religion takes people who are in desperate situation, people who have been indoctrinated since youth, or people who are uneducated or simple, and TRICKS THEM into giving money, time, and spreading the SCAM on to others. As a great example read "The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice". It makes my point better than I have room for here.

This video is just ONE example of the dangerous infectious thought madness that makes religion the greatest threat to human survival.

Recently, Tommy Davis, a spokesperson for the Church of Scientology, categorically denied any knowledge of Xenu and the Alien genocide that is a pillar of their faith. In this video, (LRH) L Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, describes the story in detail and proves Tommy Davis is a liar and South Park (SP) was right!

FULL MOON MADNESS

What happened to my Brain? Inside the religious mind from an ex Moonie... "Viral Mimetic Infection"
Diane Benscoter talks about how she joined the Moonies -- and stayed for five long years. She shares an insider's perspective on cults and extremist movements, and proposes a new way to think about today's most troubling conflicts.

-------------------------------------------------
"Born in Korea in 1920, Moon claims that in 1936, when he was 16, Jesus Christ appeared to him on Easter morning on a mountainside in Northwestern Korea and told him that God had chosen him for the mission of establishing the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, a mission that Christ had only begun. Christ supposedly told Moon that he would be "the completer of man's salvation by being the Second Coming of Christ" (Sun Myung Moon and The Unification Church, James Bjornstad, p. 9)"

"There, according to reports, Moon involved his congregation in an unusual ritual known as "blood separation," during which female members of the church were required to have sex with him to cleanse themselves of Satan's influence.

Brilliant and scathing critique of rich westerners and pseudo-religion brain laziness. A+!!! for PotheadPundit

I believe it is a combination of poor education in logical thinking, comparative religion, and science AND the constant marketing of pure capitalism, that keeps the majority of people in a teen age narcissism (what better way to keep them consuming).

Anti-Evolution film

Well its time for another CRAZY update. Today we have some quotes from a debate on the nature of angels, and a wonderful video telling us how evolution was all just made up. (Strangly though they do say the earth is millions of years old.)

Our quote for the day comes from a young man on youtube talking about angels:
"They were all reptilians in disguise. All ancient books were authored by the reptilians. We are in their prison and they use and abuse us and force us to reincarnate. All ancient history is a lie. Satan/Lucifer is reptilian. The God Yahweh is a reptilian creation. Our planet is a prison, filled with bullshit to keep us confused."
...Shine one you crazy diamond!

-----------------------------------------------------
Next is this long video of how Darwin made up evolution like a comic book. Silly Darwin, GOD beat you too it! (PS... Watching only video 1 of the series is all you need. All the others are just fossils and dramatic music, and the whole thing hinges on the fact that some fossilized animals still exist so evolution is busted)
Here are some of the wonderful points to teach you children:
1.) Darwin just "Conjured up" Evolution in his own imagination from guesswork and assumptions. If only Darwin had known about the Scientific Method like Moses or David.
2.) Atheist Materialists hated GOD so they jumped on the theory of evolution so as to disprove creation. DUH
3.) Apparently every scientific study PROVES creation and shows no evidence for evolution. Wow... what are those biologists, paleontologists, and others DOING all day? Reading comics I bet.
4.) Ancient fish look like modern fish... BOOYAH! NO EVOLUTION.
5.)Dramatic music and footage of animals = SCIENCE!
6.) Some fossils are only a few hundred years old.
7.) Just because a fossilized animal is not extinct now, therefor no evolution ever happened. What? You say the animal just found a successful niche in nature lasting millions of years? Nope...
8.) God made trilobites millions of years ago... for... some reason. He works in mysterious ways ok.
9.) 99% of all fossils have been found and NO half fish half leopards... NOW WHAT DARWIN!?

OH SNAP! Science just got PWND!

The GLORY that is post religion Europe. So nice to see a place move beyond religion. Of course we all know that Europe is a hellhole of socialism, but lets overlook that.

I love how they call the vague DEISM that is the only major religious group as a new age religion?! NEW AGE actually sounds pretty good, if you can avoid thinking of crystals, incense and hippie chicks reading your chakras.

I remember when Europe was 100% Christian... we called it the DARK AGES.

HILARIOUS! Remember these are REAL quotes from Christians talking about atheism. Wow... and these people get to vote! That should help me sleep tonight.

Of course it will be hard with the gay sex on my bed while performing an abortion and smoking pot. Its my lifestyle... DON'T JUDGE ME!

Yes... he said INHALING DEMON SPIRITS TO GET POWER FOR MARTIAL ARTS. Do I see a new trading card game for kids like Pokemon?

Oh, I just remembered Pat and squat 1000lbs with the help of jesus. I had forgotten that. Have to find a clip of that...

THE RESURGENCE OF ATHEISM (click here to read original nonsense)
This man portrays himself as a intelligent PHD, piling on the scientific jargon like a bad episode of Star Trek (the gravity field wave function is disrupted by the neutrons Captain!) BUT... mixed in we see the mental illness of cult thinking:

"Most of our leaders and people, simply cannot understand our grim plight; and so they are “sleepwalking” us into a long Hell on Earth, from hundreds of millions of demonic enemies, against our weak spiritual, moral, and intellectual resources, and largely ruined demographics."

Demons are attacking our spiritual selves? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! WHAT F&*^ING DEMONS???

RELIGIOUS PEOPLE ARE INSANE!

___________________________________
UPDATE: I could not help but post to this article. Here it is reposted:

"1.)Atheists are attacking religion, because we see magical crazy cult nonsense as holding back mankind from exploring space and living for hundreds of years. I am sure you get mad when you see a pedophile because he is hurting people, well... an atheist sees religion as the same evil.

2.)You say DEMONS are attacking america SPIRITUALLY? What the hell are you talking about? What crazy nonsense!? Alien monsters are drinking blood from our children! Bigfoot stole my dirty socks!!!

3.)To think that the universe has a reason that has anything to do with you is the HEIGHT OF VANITY. I wonder if the ants think my yard was made just for them.

4.)You always go back to the constitution... lets live by the original constitution? You want blacks to be 1/3 a human? Only white males that own property can vote? I guess that is the story of religious thinking, you would drag us back to the mud pit of prehistory where YOU were the one in charge. Humanity is breaking free of you now, and we are not going back.

I am sorry you were infected by the mental disease known as religion. I hope you get help. I for one advocate institutionalizing anyone that thinks demons are after them. They have all sorts of wonderful medication today... thanks to science."

Blank!? How about the word : REALITY

This at first was funny to me, but I realize it is actually very insulting the non-theists. We stand for NOTHING!? Well... we deserve it that stereo type for not being more vocal and involved in politics. We have not been telling people what we stand for. We have never sold ourselves very well here in America. Europe had Satre and others to make it a popular and acceptable choice. We had Madeline Murray O'hair.

I suppose we had to start with the most militant atheist just to shock her way into mainstream culture. We like our atheists commie and evil here in the states. The cold war is OVER people. NO ONE but third year college kids think pure socialism is a viable option. The GOD of Leninist utopia is dead. Stick in in the pile with the others and throw a bit of quicklime on top.

So lets all try our best to tell at least ONE PERSON today why Rational Thought is better that mythological magical thinking.

A great representation of the new non-theist attitude. Tolerate them no more.

President JAMES MADISON: "Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise." April 1, 1774

Madness people! This sort of stuff is exactly why I feel the need to promote the shedding of humanity's old religious skin for a rational humanist world.

Look at the INSANITY in the eyes of these young people. We all agree sex for children scars them for life, but so many people think religion is good for them. It is a mental rape of their logical mind. Ironic that people that don't believe in evolution end up turning their children into primitive animal men with this backwards nonsense.

My parents were Deists, so its not about believing in a creator, but a ONE TRUE FAITH that is the problem.

These children deserve better. Do we let other mentally ill people keep their kids? Why is the madness of religion left alone?
